Top 5 Crafts to Create with Barbie Coloring Pages
As my kids enjoy playing with paper dolls, drawing castles and mansions, and telling stories, I decided to engage them in activities to help them develop their abilities. We used cut-outs from the Barbie coloring pages they finished and created lovely items to decorate our house, organize plays, and make learning activities more entertaining.
Stick Puppets
Use cut-outs from Barbie coloring pages to create beautiful puppets for a DIY theater. Ask your kids to come up with ideas for an engaging play featuring Mattel characters. They will be excited to tell stories about their favorite doll and her friends. My daughter was pleased with this project and invited her friends to join. They role-played amazing stories with unusual plot twists and had a lot of fun in the process. I did not expect them to get so creative and encouraged them by praising their storytelling abilities.
At first, my daughter chose a picture of Barbie wearing Princess Aurora’s gown, while one of her friends created a stick puppet using a cut-out from a picture portraying Ken. They used an enlarged illustration of Barbie’s dream house as a background. Each scene featured Barbie in different outfits. It gave the play a dynamic feel, making it easier to follow the development of the story.
Pencil Control Tracing Worksheets
If your child gets bored working on worksheets, encourage them to decorate these pages with cut-out figures. Use characters from Barbie coloring pages to make pencil control tracing activities more entertaining. When working on these sheets, my daughter often starts telling stories about the characters she sees. It helps her complete her tasks faster. She looks happy and content seeing accurate lines. Moreover, this activity allows her to fill in the coloring sheets with hues with better precision.
There is no need to force your kid to work on a tracing worksheet. You just need to make the process entertaining. Finishing the pages decorated with iconic Mattel characters will give them an amazing feeling of accomplishment. It will allow them to prepare better for school and improve their chances of achieving academic success.
Paper Stickers
Create a lovely design for your stickers using Barbie coloring pages. Use scissors to cut out figures and seal them with tape or Mod Podge. If you have sticker paper, you can print illustrations on such sheets to streamline the process. However, regular sheets will do as well. When cutting out Babrie, leave a small border around. Then, seal the sticker using tape. We carefully put the cut-out on the table and covered it with packing tape.
Alternative solutions are also possible. For instance, when I had some Mod Podge, I put it on the other side of the picture and let it dry. Some print shops have a laminator, so you can order their services to give your stickers a professional finish and make them long-lasting. My kids decorated the furniture in their room with fancy stickers they created. It added a bright accent to the interior.
Dreamhouse Worksheet
This activity will help you learn more about your child’s aspirations. Create a simple worksheet and leave plenty of empty space inside to fill it in with cut-outs from the Barbie coloring pages they completed. Ask them to imagine their dream house and who they want to see around them. This interactive activity has a deep psychological meaning, as it allows parents to understand their kids better and learn more about their dreams.
If a child struggles with expressing their thoughts and wishes, encourage them to think about a safe place where they would like to spend long summer days. Ask them questions to demonstrate your interest and encourage them to be more creative.
Posters with Inspirational Quotes
Barbie became an example for millions of girls who want to follow in her footsteps and become as strong, beautiful, and adventurous as she is. Print Barbie coloring pages in a large format, or find glossy, matte, satin, or canvas paper and ask your kids to decorate these sheets with cut-outs. They can use quotes from their favorite movies or come up with their own ideas. Such posters are perfect for decorating your child’s room. They will allow them to express their unique personality and brighten up their space.
