Top 5 Crafts to Create Using Elmo Coloring Pages
My son loves watching Sesame Street and enjoys working on DIY projects. This is why I suggested we use Elmo coloring pages to create lovely accessories and other items.
Jigsaw Puzzle
You will need to print Elmo coloring pages and glue them to cardboard. Turn it around and draw a simple grid or a more elaborate pattern on the back. Then, use scissors to cut out the pieces in rows. Use ball and socket shapes to create a simple grid with interlocking pieces. You can use special templates to draw a suitable layout with a pencil or come up with your own ideas. If you have a cutting machine, it will save you a lot of time. When everything is ready, use an eraser to remove pencil marks from each piece.
This puzzle will entertain your guests during a birthday party or family gathering. Store the pieces in a small box or a simple textile bag. You can create a set of puzzles of different levels of difficulty to make the task of working on them more engaging.
Stand-Up Figures
Parents use such simple pieces to decorate a child’s bedroom. Put them on the table or the bookshelf for everyone to see. Print Elmo coloring pages on thick paper or glue them to cardboard. Cut out the figures you want to use and fill them in with hues. Find empty toilet paper rolls and glue them to the back of the cutouts. It will allow you to create a simple stand and ensure that it stays in place and doesn’t fall over. I used cardstock for one of such projects to save time, and was pleased with the result.
Alternatively, you can leave some empty space under the legs of a figure before cutting it out. Then, fold the bottom part and use it as a stand. You can glue a toothpick to the character’s head and attach the other end to the stand to make the figure sturdy.
Figures with Waving Hands
Youngsters are often mesmerized by toys and action figures with moving elements. In many Elmo coloring pages, you can see the protagonist weaving their arms. It inspired us to add a dynamic feel to our crafts. I printed each illustration in two copies. We opted for a Happy Birthday picture with Elmo and selected a full-height image of this protagonist. Then, we cut out the arms from the duplicate pages and used a fastener to attach them to the image we wanted to animate.
This idea will allow you to create fun postcards, diary covers, and other items. Move the arms back and forth to make Elmo look as if he were waving. Besides the character’s arms, you can “animate” his head or other elements. This project is simple but quite entertaining. It explains why my son loves it so much and often uses this technique to create greeting cards for his friends.
DIY Diorama
If your child is no longer satisfied with simple tasks, use the cutouts from Elmo coloring pages to create dioramas. Find a suitable cardboard box and put it on the table so that its open side faces outward. Cut off the top part if you need to use more free space. Print the pictures in a smaller size. After youngsters fill the shapes and outlines with hues, leave 1 inch of paper under the characters’ feet. Cut out the figures you want to use for this project and fold the empty space. Use this stand to glue the figures to the cardboard.
Arrange the paper cutouts as you see fit and spend some time on the background to make it visually interesting. Add trees, houses, and other elements. Use green construction paper to create a floor.
Booklets
My son loves good stories. We decided to use Elmo coloring pages to illustrate the tale about the inhabitants of Sesame Street. Arrange the images in any order and ask youngsters to describe what happens to the main character. Write the continuation of the story on the back of each page. Then, fasten the pics together to create a booklet. Choose an attention-grabbing image for the cover. This activity will help youngsters to improve their logical reasoning and learn how to weave entertaining tales. You can use your storybooks as gifts for your relatives.
